The best Realme phone 2023

Realme is a new player in the smartphone market. However, this Chinese startup has shaken up mobile with a variety of powerful phones at affordable prices.

Realme’s relationship to Oppo is a big reason for this. Sky Li, the founder of Realme, was previously an Oppo vice-president. The two companies share R&D and engineering. This is most evident in the fact that Realme UI is remarkably similar to Oppo’s ColorOS – which is a good thing.

Realme, like Oppo, has recently expanded its European product range to include smartwatches, true wireless headphones and tablets.

Realme phones offer a great price/performance ratio, and often emphasize speedy specs such as the most recent processors or lightning fast charging speeds.

Realme is not the right choice for you. We recommend our selection of the best budget phones and best midrange phones to give you more options at comparable price points.

Best Realme phones 2022

1. Realme GT 2 Pro – Best flagship

Pros

  • Flagship specifications
  • Beautiful display
  • Support for 5G

Cons

  • There is no waterproofing
  • No wireless charging
  • Plastic construction

Realme’s first true flagship is the GT 2 Pro, which features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.

Realme’s WQHD+, AMOLED display, is one of the best, along with the 50Mp triple rear cameras system. You can also pair the phone to get plenty of RAM or storage.

There are no wireless charging or waterproofing, but this flagship is still a great choice to be among the best in the industry.

2. Realme GT 2 – Flagship for less

Pros

  • Strong specifications
  • Charge quickly
  • 120Hz AMOLED screen

Cons

  • There is no waterproofing
  • No wireless charging
  • Basic cameras

The Realme GT 2 is an odd phone in that it has less in common with the GT 2 Pro than with last year’s Realme GT.

It looks just like its Pro sibling. However, the Snapdragon 888, 120Hz AMOLED screen and 65W charging make the insides look much like the older phone.

Upgrades are available with a larger 6.62in screen and larger battery. The 50Mp main sensor impresses here, but the macro and ultra wide are less interesting.

3. Realme 9 Pro+ – Best mid-ranger

  • Colour-changing design
  • Two-day battery
  • Main camera with strong features

Cons

  • Secondary lenses that are not satisfactory
  • There is no waterproofing

MSRP: Starting at Rs24,999

Although the Realme 9 Pro+ model is the most expensive in the company’s budget 9 Series, it is still a good option for those looking for a mid-range option.

The AMOLED display at 90Hz is stunning, and the main 50Mp camera is also impressive. However, the other lenses aren’t very interesting.

The unique UV-reactive colour-changing design of the phone may be something you like, but it’s not available in all finishes.

4. Realme GT Neo 3 – Fastest charging

Pros

  • Extraordinary 150W wired charging
  • Striking design
  • Outstanding performance

Cons

  • There is no waterproofing
  • No wireless charging
  • Secondary camera lenses disappoint

MSRP: Starting at Rs 36,999

Best Prices Today:Rs36999 at Realme

Realme GT Neo 3 is all speed, right down to the racing stripes across the back.

The phone is only available in two versions, but the best is the one that provides 150W wired charging. This is currently the fastest worldwide. This is enough to charge the entire battery in 15 minutes and then get half back in five.

Fast charging comes at the cost of a smaller battery but it is still good enough for long-lasting use. Fast charging is possible thanks to the flagship Dimensity8100 chip. The phone also has a decent main camera, though the macro and ultra-wide lenses are not up to the mark.

5. Realme 9 – Best 4G phone

Pros

  • 90Hz OLED display
  • Battery life is excellent
  • Solid cameras

Cons

  • No 5G
  • Poor fingerprint sensor
  • Sluggish performance

MSRP: Starting at Rs17,999

Best Prices Today:Rs17999 at Realme

The heart of the company’s 2022 lineup is the Realme 9, and this budget offering remains a crowd-pleaser.

Realme opted for 4G and was able to save more money on the display, battery and cameras. All of these are great for the price.

Some will miss 5G, but we would love to see a faster chipset and an upgrade to the unreliable underdisplay fingerprint sensor. Overall, though, it’s a balanced option that reminds us that 4G phones still exist.
